Being unemployed is a daunting feeling, and I know that, as I am going through the same thing myself. I recently moved to Lisbon, Portugal and I thought I could search for an English-speaking position. I held a good position in my previous work and I had the skills and experience as well, so I thought I was sorted. Lo´ and behold, I actually managed to procure employment within less than 2 months of being in Portugal as an English web content developer for a UK-based agency.

However, because of my tourist visa and the bureaucracies involved in converting a tourist visa to work visa in Portugal, my would-be employer retracted the offer. I was duly disappointed, that was for sure. Almost depressed, really and my ego suffered a huge bruising.

So, here I am again, back on the search and based on the response I have been receiving lately, I would like to share some of my employment search tips. Be aware that these pointers are based on my own experience and I am still searching, thus may not be the master of this attempt.
